Can Zika be transmitted through frozen embryos, eggs, or sperm?
Zika virus can remain in bodily fluids, including semen, for several months. However, frozen embryos, eggs, or sperm stored before travel are not at risk.
Patients who have travelled to Zika-risk areas should wait the required clearance period or test before freezing eggs or sperm.
