Same-Sex Male Couples
Start your family with confidence
Becoming a parent as a same-sex male couple can feel like a big step—but you don’t have to figure it out alone. At Care Fertility, we’ve supported many gay men and LGBTQ+ families to grow through egg donation and surrogacy.
Whether you’re just starting to explore your options or already working with a surrogate, we’ll give you clear advice, trusted care, and a team who understands the journey you're on.
Why choose Care Fertility?
We’re proud to support LGBTQ+ families every day—not just during Pride, but all year round. Same-sex male couples often face more complexity in the fertility world, from legal processes to donor matching to finding a surrogate.
At Care Fertility, we make things clearer, not harder. Here’s what we offer:

What is surrogacy?
Surrogacy is a method of assisted reproduction where a woman carries and delivers a baby for another person or couple, often referred to as the intended parents (IPs). This arrangement is invaluable for couples unable to carry a pregnancy themselves, providing a pathway to biological parenthood.
Surrogacy involves a legal and emotional commitment between the surrogate and the IPs, supported by medical professionals to ensure a successful and positive experience. At Care Fertility, we guide you through the complexities of surrogacy with compassion and expertise, ensuring you feel supported at every step.
Types of surrogacy
Care Fertility offers both straight (traditional) and host (gestational) surrogacy options to accommodate the diverse needs of our same-sex male couples and AMAB individuals:
Also known as genetic or traditional surrogacy, this method involves the surrogate using her own eggs and being artificially inseminated with the sperm of one of the intended parents (IPs). As a result, the surrogate has a genetic connection to the baby.
Also known as gestational surrogacy, this method involves the creation of embryos using either the eggs of a donor or one of the intended parents, combined with sperm from a donor or another intended parent. The embryo is then transferred to the surrogate's uterus for gestation. In host surrogacy, the surrogate has no genetic relationship to the baby.
Working with egg donors and surrogates
You’ll work with our donor team to find an egg donor that matches your needs—whether that’s physical traits, heritage, or something else. From there, we coordinate the full IVF process and embryo transfer with your surrogate.
We’ll also work closely with your chosen surrogacy organisation to ensure smooth clinical care throughout the journey.

Sperm sharing for gay men and same-sex couples
Sperm sharing is a way for gay men and same-sex male couples to access reduced-price IVF treatment while helping others who need donor sperm to start their families.
As a sperm sharer, you’ll donate sperm to be used in someone else’s treatment. In return, you'll receive £3,000 off your own IVF cycle or egg recipient treatment package.
You’ll go through screening to ensure your sperm is suitable for donation. This includes:
-
A semen analysis and medical history review
-
Blood and urine tests
-
Genetic and lifestyle questionnaires
-
The option to provide a pen portrait and goodwill message for future recipients
You can decide how many families your donation can help (up to 10), and you're free to change or withdraw your consent at any point before your sperm—or embryos created from it—are used.
Once your samples are approved for use, your treatment discount is applied. It’s a way to make IVF more affordable while giving someone else the chance to start their family too.
