How does the embyo grading system work?

At Care Fertility, we have developed two grading systems. One for early stage embryos (day 2-3), and one for blastocysts (day 4-6). The early stage grading system scores embryos from 1 to 4 and is based on embryo fragmentation. Grade 1 and 2 are the best grades and have similar outcomes. Grade 3 is an average quality and grade 4 is a low quality early stage embryo. We make very few early stage assessments under our do not disturb practice, which aims to result in blastocyst transfer and avoids removing the embryos from the incubators. If we are not assessing your embryos at this early stage, we cannot provide a grading.
