If my partner visited a Zika-risk area, can I still freeze sperm?
Men can freeze sperm immediately if they and their partner have abstained or used barrier contraception.
If they have not used barrier contraception, they must either:
- Wait 8 weeks if their female partner has travelled.
- Wait 3 months if their male partner has travelled.
- Take Zika serology and semen NAT tests after 4 weeks and proceed only if results are negative.
