What is the age limit for IVF using your own eggs?
You’ll need to have your eggs collected before your 46th birthday and complete treatment before your 50th.
If you’re planning IVF using your own eggs, the egg collection must happen before you turn 46. Once embryos are created, treatment—including embryo transfer and pregnancy—must be completed before your 50th birthday. These limits are in place to give you the best chance of success while keeping your health and safety in mind. They're based on clinical guidelines and advice from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA). After your fertility tests, your doctor will talk you through what’s possible for you and recommend the most suitable path forward.
