What is Luteinising Hormone (LH)?

LH is a hormone that helps trigger ovulation, when your body releases an egg.

Luteinising Hormone (LH) plays a key role in the menstrual cycle. It rises sharply just before ovulation, prompting the ovary to release a mature egg. LH levels can help us understand whether you're ovulating regularly, and can also give us insight into certain conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). We usually measure LH with a blood test as part of your fertility investigations.
