Ellissa’s current role is as a Clinical Lead for Genomics as well as being a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine. She works for Care Fertility, Leeds and at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) where she is Clinical Lead for PGT and also Governance and Audit in Gynaecology.

Training

Ellissa Baskind qualified in Medicine in 2001 at University of Birmingham (Batchelor of Medicine and Surgery) where she was awarded honours in Public Health relating to her work on genetic screening. She held training posts in the Yorkshire region in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and a Clinical Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine at St. James’s University Hospital where she achieved a Doctorate of Medicine which was awarded with a special commendation by the University of Leeds for her work on folliculogenesis in the pathogenesis of infertility (2013). Ellissa successfully completed Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) accredited subspeciality training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery in Leeds (2017) and was appointed as a Consultant at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, NHS Trust (LTHT) in the same year.

I enjoy listening to patients and appreciate the complex and sensitive nature of our consultations and then working together to help them understand how we can help at Care Fertility, and ultimately creating a personalised and individual plan, and following them through their journey
 

Career

Ellissa held training posts in the Yorkshire region in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and a Clinical Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine at St. James’s University Hospital, Leeds. She was appointed as a Consultant at LTHT in 2017 where she continues to work. She joined the Care Fertility Group in 2022.

Specialities and Credentials

Ellissa developed and leads the NHS PGT-M/SR service in Leeds at LTHT which covers NHS provision of PGT for the North of England. She leads the risk and governance service for gynaecology at LTHT and is an active member of the LTHE ethics committee. She was involved in the development of the “Cancer Fertility and Me” decision aid. Ellissa also has a keen interest in education and was an elected chair of Subspeciality Trainees in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery (STIRMAS)and is currently the Deputy Programme Director for Sub Speciality Training in Leeds, an educational supervisor and BFS trainer. Ellissa has a key interest in research and has authored and co-authored several peer reviewed papers and book chapters as well as presenting her work at national and international conferences.

Membership of Professional Bodies

Ellissa is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, British Fertility Society (BFS) and European Society Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). She is also an active member of the LTHT ethics committee.
