Training and expertise

Julie qualified as a nurse at the age of 41, gaining a First-Class Honours degree from the University of Salford.

Her specialist interests include shared motherhood and sperm donation, and she is continuing to expand her expertise through training in surrogacy care.

I came into nursing later in my life, after being a surrogate myself for a friend. Finding the role as a donation nurse at Care Fertility felt like the perfect fit for me. It is a real privilege to work with patients who are going through a difficult time in their life and support them

Career

Julie Garside is a Specialist Donation Practitioner at Care Fertility. She currently works with patients who need treatment with donor eggs, donor sperm and donor embryos, and also supports sperm donors.

Julie’s first role as a qualified nurse was with Care Fertility in the donation team, working with egg donors. She then developed her role to support donor egg and sperm recipients, embryo recipients, shared motherhood couples and sperm donors, and is now training with the surrogacy team to become proficient in all areas of donation.
