Lauren Barker - Community Marketing Manager
Lauren Barker is the Community Marketing Manager at Care Fertility. She built the Care Fertility Community, a safe, welcoming space where current and former patients can connect, share experiences, and support one another beyond the clinic.

Experience

Lauren understands fertility treatment personally, too. Her own journey included an endometriosis diagnosis, five cycles of IVF, and pregnancy loss. She went on to complete her family with the help of an egg donor, including treatment at Care Fertility.

Finding an online fertility community made a real difference to her at that time, offering reassurance, hope, and friendships that continue today. She saw the same power of peer support during several years as a volunteer moderator on a large fertility forum, where she advised people at every stage of infertility and took part in Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) focus groups on how clinics could better support patients.

This blend of personal and voluntary experience has given Lauren practical, patient-facing training that she brings directly into her work at Care Fertility today.

The greatest support I found during my fertility journey came from people who truly understood. My hope is that every member of the Care Fertility Community finds that same sense of connection, support and belonging.

Career

Lauren has spent 10 years at Care Fertility, working across several patient-facing teams, including the new patient enquiry team and the patient services team. In every role, her focus has stayed the same: making sure patients feel seen, heard, and supported. She has helped improve support services across Care Fertility's clinics, trained and developed large teams, and strengthened the patient journey from first enquiry through to treatment.

Lauren's expertise in patient experience has also led her to give a guest lecture on patient support in the assisted reproductive technology (ART) programme to MSc Clinical Embryology students, delivered in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University. She shares her insight into patient personas, the emotional highs and lows of the in vitro fertilisation (IVF) journey, and the vital role embryologists play in supporting patients.

It's this understanding that led Lauren to join the marketing team, building the Care Fertility Community as a place for patients to find that same connection, support, and belonging. In everything she does, she makes sure the patient voice is heard in Care Fertility's marketing, giving valuable patient insight.
