CARBON REDUCTION

Care Fertility is aiming to reduce its carbon footprint through sustainable actions.

Care Fertility’s Carbon reduction commitment

  • Commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2050 (as signed by the Board)
  • Interim target to reduce gross scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions in tonnes of CO2e per £1,000,000 turnover by 5% per year to 2030

Actions Taken by Care Fertility to Reduce Our Carbon Footprint – Both Current and Future, Including:

  • All energy contracts now centralised through Trident utilities, with all electricity from renewable sources

  • Project to introduce solar generation at the Nottingham site completed in 2023
  • Promotion of electric vehicle car scheme available to Care employees

  • Focus on controllable spend and movement to digital (vs. physical/printed assets), e.g., brochures/information leaflets. This was further facilitated by the move to Salve – a digital customer experience platform

  • Undertaken an energy audit to identify opportunities to reduce emissions/energy usage within our clinics (these are now being prioritised to drive our emissions reduction targets)

  • Undertaken a project with Trident to improve/enhance the scope of our Phase 3 emissions to align with the categories tracked and measured by the NHS – including both upstream and downstream emissions

  • Reinforced our commitment to be net-zero by 2050

Care Fertility’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions

  • Greenhouse Gas emissions for FY23 totalled 949 tCO2e across scope 1 – 3

  • Updated figures for FY24 will be available in April 2025, as part of the next SECR submission. Within these figures, we will be reporting an enhanced view of Scope 3 emissions, in line with the categories tracked by the NHS.
