Dr. Shankaralingaiah Nethra is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 10 years of NHS consultant experience, currently based at Burnley General Hospital. For the past eight years, she has also served as an IVF Specialist Consultant with Care Fertility and other leading fertility centres in the Northwest UK.
She completed her MRCOG with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and is a member of several professional bodies, including the British Fertility Society, the British Menopause Society, and the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE).
Dr. Nethra’s primary area of interest is subfertility. She provides comprehensive care for patients requiring fertility treatment and assisted conception. She is highly skilled in advanced reproductive and gynaecological surgery, including hysteroscopic resection of fibroids, myomectomy, laparoscopic cystectomy, excision of endometriosis, and major procedures such as hysterectomy. In addition, she routinely performs ultrasound assessments and tubal patency investigations, such as HyCoSy.
Academically, Dr. Nethra has served as Principal Investigator for national fertility trials, including research on ovulation induction (LOCI trial) and endometrial scratching, contributing to published outcomes in the field. She regularly attends professional meetings and conferences, such as those organised by the British Fertility Society and the North of England Fertility Group, to remain at the forefront of developments in reproductive medicine.
