Training & Career
After graduating overseas, Dr Byrne continued her medical training in London, specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology. She became a member and later a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), following her appointment as a consultant in the Midlands.
With more than 25 years’ experience across a wide range of hospital settings, Dr Byrne has worked with diverse patient communities and developed broad-based expertise in general obstetrics and gynaecology. Her career has included managing complex cases and contributing to clinical governance through her role as an expert member of a research ethics committee, where she participated in proportional reviews, virtual sub-committees, and full ethical reviews of research applications.
After leaving the NHS due to health reasons, Dr Byrne began the second phase of her career, retraining in gynaecology and choosing to subspecialise in assisted conception. She has recently joined the Care Fertility team in Tamworth and Birmingham, where she is part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team focused on improving patient outcomes.
